Packers take care of business in 27-19 victory over the Carolina Panthers
Jordan Love threw three touchdown passes and the Green Bay Packers’ defense racked up a season-high six sacks to secure a 27-19 victory over the Carolina Panthers on Thursday Night Football October 29, 2026, at Lambeau Field.
Looking to bounce back from a division loss to Detroit, Matt LaFleur’s squad overcame early special teams errors and a stagnant rushing attack to improve to 5-3 on the season. Jordan Love led the offensive charge, completing 30 of 41 passes for 288 yards. Love spread the ball masterfully, finding tight end Tucker Kraft, wide receiver Matthew Golden, and running back Josh Jacobs for touchdown passes.
Defensively, Green Bay put relentless pressure on Panthers quarterback Bryce Young. The Packers swarmed the pocket for six sacks, shared across six different defenders—Ty’Ron Hopper, Lukas Van Ness, Barryn Sorrell, Dani Dennis-Sutton, Brenton Cox Jr., and Devonte Wyatt—all while playing without defensive stalwarts Micah Parsons and Edgerrin Cooper.
The most dramatic storyline of the night belonged to wideout Christian Watson. After hauling in a breathtaking 53-yard deep ball to put the Packers in scoring position during the second quarter, Watson took a heavy hit and was coughing up blood on the sideline. He left Lambeau Field in an ambulance to evaluate a chest injury, leaving Green Bay temporarily thin at receiver.
Astonishingly, after his hospital scans cleared him of major damage—revealing only a broken rib—Watson caught an ambulance ride right back to the stadium. He ran out of the tunnel mid-game to a roaring ovation and executed a critical, game-sealing 7-yard catch on 3rd-and-short late in the fourth quarter to help run down the clock. Watson finished as the game’s leading receiver with eight catches for 113 yards.
Despite the win, Green Bay’s bottom-ranked rushing attack continued to sputter. Facing a porous Carolina run defense, the Packers managed just 66 total yards on the ground. Josh Jacobs found the end zone twice (one rushing, one receiving) but was held to a grueling 39 yards on 21 carries.
The victory added to a historic week for Wisconsin sports fans. At halftime, the Milwaukee Brewers made a surprise guest appearance at Lambeau Field, hoisting their freshly won World Series trophy to an ecstatic home crowd.
The Packers now head into a “mini-bye” week to rest up before traveling to face the New England Patriots on November 8.
