On Friday, November 6th at approximately 7:35 a.m., the Fond du Lac County Communications Center received a 911 call reporting a crash on Lakeshore Dr. near Subway Rd. in the Town of Friendship, involving a motor vehicle and school bus. Initial information indicated the Johnson School bus was occupied by children, although the extent of any injuries was unknown.
Deputies with the Fond du Lac County Sheriffs Office along with personnel from the North Fond du Lac Fire Department and Ambulance Service and Van Dyne Fire Departments responded to the scene.
Upon arrival, deputies determined the school bus was occupied by 35 students and was stopped in the southbound lane of Lakeshore Drive with its red warning lights activated and stop arm extended. A southbound passenger car, driven by a 17-year-old Fond du Lac County resident, failed to stop and struck the rear of the school bus.

The driver and her juvenile passenger were uninjured. All 35 students aboard the school bus were also reported to be uninjured. Several students were evaluated by emergency medical services at the scene and released.
The driver of the passenger car was cited for failure to stop for a stopped school bus and following too closely. Lakeshore Dr was closed to traffic for approximately one hour.
The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office reminds motorists to remain alert and obey all school bus warning signals. Drivers are required to stop when approaching a school bus displaying flashing red lights and remain stopped until the bus resumes motion or the flashing red lights are turned off.
