Arrest Made In Suspicious Area Fires

An arrest has been made related to multiple suspicious fires that occurred recently in the Fond du Lac area. Fond du Lac County Sheriff Ryan Waldschmidt issued a statement Friday morning, saying officers arrested a 43-year old North Fond du Lac man on charges related to the fires. 

The suspect is currently being held in the Fond du Lac County jail while reports are finalized. Charges will be referred to the FDL County DA’s Office. There will be further details released once the suspect has made his initial court appearance. Officials do believe the suspect acted alone, and no other suspects are being sought. 

Waldschmidt said it was a collective effort in pursuing the case, with the FDL Police Department, North Fond du Lac Police Department, Wisconsin DOJ, State Fire Marshal’s Office, FDL Fire/Rescue, and the North Fond du Lac Fire Department all working together to identify and arrest the suspect.
