Inmate Assaults Worker at Waupun Correctional

The Wisconsin Department of Corrections says an inmate assaulted
a staff member at Waupun Correctional Institution this week. The DOC said Friday
the attack happened on Christmas Eve, and involved an improvised weapon.
Reports say the staff member was transported to a hospital with unspecified injuries.
The assault is being investigated by the Department of Corrections and the
Dodge County Sheriff’s Office. Officials say the facility was put into lockdown
following the assault over safety and security concerns.
