Eldorado Man Dies In Motorcycle Accident, Name Released By FDL County Sheriff’s Department

A Thursday afternoon motorcycle accident has taken the life of a 51-year old Eldorado man.

Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Deputies were notified at 4:30 p.m. Thursday (8/26/2021) that a motorcycle was submerged in Kettle Moraine Lake, located just east of Wacousta on Hwy. F.

A Deputy arrived first on the scene and removed the man from the water and performed life-saving measures, but the driver of the motorcycle was pronounced dead at the scene.

The identity of the victim was released Friday evening. The man was identified as Timothy B. Tapplin of Eldorado

Initial investigation shows that Tapplin was traveling west of Cty. Rd. F when he failed to negotiate a curve. Tapplin was the only occupant on the motorcycle and laid down the motorcycle, slid across the road and down the bank, striking a pier. Both Tapplin and the motorcycle came to rest in the lake.

Sheriff’s Deputies say speed appears to be a contributing factor in the crash.

Assistance at the scene was provided Campbellsport Ambulance and Fire Department, Campbellsport Fire Department’s Dive Team, and the Wisconsin DNR.
