State Supreme Court Hears Arguments In Prehn Case

The state Supreme Court heard arguments this week in the case of a member of the Natural Resources Board who has refused to step down.

Wausau dentist Dr. Fred Prehn was appointed to the DNR advisory board by former governor Scott Walker.

Prehn’s term expired in May of last year and Republicans in the state Senate never held a confirmation hearing for Governor Tony Evers appointee to fill the seat.

Prehn has justified his refusal to leave by citing a decades-old state Supreme Court decision that says appointed board members can remain in place until the Senate confirms their replacement. A decision in the case is expected by June.
