Alcohol believed to be factor in rollover Fond du Lac County crash that seriously injured driver

On Saturday, October 5th, 2024 at approximately 4:17pm, The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office Communications Center received several 911 calls reporting a single vehicle rollover crash on County Highway Y, South of County Highway T in the Town of Lamartine. Initial information received was that the vehicle had been serving prior to leaving the roadway. The vehicle had come to rest on its roof in the ditch.

Fond du Lac County Sheriff Deputies were dispatched to the scene along with Lamartine Fire Department, Lamartine First Responders and North Fond du Lac Fire/Rescue. When emergency personnel arrived on scene, they discovered the driver and sole occupant, 30-year-old Hartford man, was trapped inside the vehicle. Crews were able to extricate the man.

Due to the seriousness of the man’s injuries, ThedaStar Medical Helicopter was requested to the scene. He was flown from the scene to ThedaCare Regional Medical Center – Neenah.

Initial investigation showed the man had been traveling south on County Highway Y. He then left the roadway traveling into the West ditch before striking a culvert and overturning. The man was wearing his seatbelt during the crash.

Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash and the man was arrested on suspicion of operating while intoxicated. The investigation is ongoing by the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office.

County Highway Y was shut down between County Highway T and Brown Road for approximately 1 hour while the scene was processed.
