Another round of ammunition found at Rosendale school
Officials at Laconia Elementary School in Rosendale are dealing with a student finding a round of ammunition for a second time in two weeks, but the thinking is the round found Wednesday, March 25, 2026, could be from the same time period as last weeks.
At about 12:30 p.m., a student discovered the ammunition round while outside on the playground and immediately notified an adult, who was then able to secure the round safely.
The school says their initial assessment has confirmed that the round was the same caliber and brand as the ones discovered in a school bathroom last week. The school believes this round was in a snowbank for a period of time and became exposed with the melting snow.
The playground area was further searched with nothing found. While the school district and local law enforcement have previously stated they do not believe there is a credible threat, school officials continue to take the matter very seriously.
The incident remains under active investigation. To provide an extra layer of security and peace of mind, the school will continue to coordinate with local law enforcement to ensure a police presence on campus.
Parents were asked to talk their children, and if they have any information that might assist the school’s investigation, they should reach out to Principal Heidi Owens at 920-872-2151.
