Arsonist in Congressman Grothman building fire sentenced to prison
The man convicted for starting Congressman Glen Grothman’s office building on fire in protest of a ban of the social media site Tik Tok has been sentenced to 7 years in prison and 7 years of extended supervision.
Fond du Lac County District Attorney Eric Toney announced yesterday that Caiden Stachowicz was given this sentence after being convicted in the case in November of last year.
Toney, who was pushing for a 12-15 year prison sentence stated “We hope this sentence acts as a deterrent to political violence, and lets those that serve us know they will be protected.”
Stachowicz admitted to attempting to break into Grothman’s office on January 19th of 2025, in order to set it on fire. Unable to gain access, he resorted to lighting an electrical box in the back of the building on fire.
