Body of Missing Boater Found On Lake Butte des Morts

The search for a missing boater on Lake Butte des Morts has ended. Two men
were fishing on the lake about 7:40 p.m. Tuesday night, when a strong
thunderstorm raced through the area and capsized their 18-ft boat. Both men and
a dog ended up in the water, with a 55-year old Town of Clayton man and the dog making it to shore
after spending about 3 hours in the water. Neither of the men was wearing a
life jacket. The Winnebago County Sheriff’s office began the search about 10:30
p.m., calling off the search at about 2:00 a.m. Wednesday morning. Search crews were back on the water this morning, and found the 61-year old Oshkosh man along the shoreline. The names of those involved has not yet been released.
