Bow deer hunting season starts Saturday in Wisconsin

Wisconsin’s archery and crossbow deer season open this Saturday, September 12, 2026.

The Department of Natural Resources says the season runs through January 3rd, with some exceptions extending the season through January 31st in selected areas.

The DNR is reminding hunters to make safety a top priority, especially when using tree stands.

Hunters are urged to use a safety harness and haul line, and to maintain three points of contact when climbing into or out of a stand.

There have also been changes to some Deer Management Units, so hunters should check the current maps before heading out.

The DNR says bonus antlerless harvest authorizations remain available in many units.
