Fatal crash on 41 near Dodge/Washington County line closes southbound lanes

A fatal crash was reported in the southbound lanes of I-41 just into Washington County Wednesday, February 11, 2026.

At about 12:12 p.m., reports of a rear end collision came in with the driver of the striking vehicle trapped.

Upon arrival, crews worked to free the trapped person, but shortly after, they were pronounced deceased in the vehicle.

Investigation into the crash showed a Dodge County Highway pick-up truck towing a trailer had slowed down in the inside lane of the highway to pull into the median turnaround. The south bound sedan struck the rear of the trailer and then came to rest against the guardrail.

It was found the pick-up truck had it’s warning lights activated.

Southbound lanes of I-41 were closed for several hours while crews worked the scene. No other information has been released in the crash. The crash continues to be investigated.
