A 39-year-old Fond du Lac man is in custody for the shooting of a 48-year-old Fond du Lac man Saturday night, September 28, 2024 in the City of Fond du Lac.

Just after 8 PM, the City of Fond du Lac Police Department and City of Fond du Lac Fire Rescue responded to the area 1st Street and Adams Street for reports of gunshots in the area. A witness told a 911 call taker that they saw a man shoot at another man on a motorcycle and then run into the Parish School Apartments on east Second Street.

Within minutes of arriving, officers found the victim near the intersection of south Portland and east Division Streets. Officers stated he had at least two gunshot wounds. One in the leg and one in the forearm.

While officers tended to the man, other officers started to set up a perimeter around the apartment building. Both City and County SWAT teams were called to the scene as were city and county negotiation teams.

It was learned early on in the investigation who the suspect was and officers confirmed he had an apartment in the building so a search warrant for the suspect’s apartment was obtained.

Just after midnight, as SWAT was about to breach the suspects door with explosives and enter the apartment, it was learned he was not at the residence and had turned himself into police at the police department. He is currently being held in the Fond du Lac County Jail awaiting charges. The man who was shot was transported to ThedaCare Medical Center in Neenah.
