Serious injuries reported in vehicle vs pedestrian crash at Johnson and Macy Streets

EDIT: Initial reports was this was a vehicle vs moped crash. Fond du Lac Police have advised no moped was involved and it was a pedestrian. The story has been changed to reflect the new information.)

A vehicle vs pedestrian crash was called into the Fond du Lac County Communications Center Friday morning at 5:40 a.m. at the intersection of Johnson Street and Macy Street.

Upon arrival, an officer found the pedestrian lying on the sidewalk unconscious.

Because of the significant injuries, Fond du Lac Fire/Rescue requested that a medical helicopter meet them at the heli-pad at SSM St Agnes Hospital.

The preliminary investigation indicates that a 30-year-old male Fond du Lac resident was traveling eastbound on West Johnson Street when his vehicle struck a 50-year-old female pedestrian who was walking southbound in the west-side crosswalk.

The eastbound lanes of Johnson Street were closed for about a half hour while crews worked the scene.
