Brew Crew off to 1 game lead in World Series with 3-2 win over Rays
The Brewers withstood a late game Tampa Bay Rays come back to start the World Series, edging the team 3-to-2 Friday night, October 23, 2026, at American Family Field.
Milwaukee jumped out to an early lead in the first inning when Christian Yelich tripled to score Jackson Chourio. Then William Contreras singled home Yelich to make it 2-0.
Starting pitcher Jacob Misiorowski allowed just one earned run over five innings, while Chourio added an insurance run with an RBI single in the seventh.
The Rays appeared to hit into a game-ending double play, only to have the call overturned after a replay review showed Brewers shortstop Cooper Pratt’s foot had come off second base.
Tampa Bay scored a run and had the go ahead run in scoring position, but closer Trevor Megill struck out Jonny DeLuca to secure the victory.
The win gives Milwaukee a one-game-to-none lead in the best-of-seven series. Game two is scheduled for Saturday night in Milwaukee.
