Brewers Sweep Dodgers, Advance to World Series for First Time Since 1982
The Milwaukee Brewers are heading to the World Series for the first time in 44 years after completing a four-game sweep of the Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League Championship Series.
Milwaukee clinched the pennant Thursday night, October 15, 2026, with a 6-4 victory over the defending champion Dodgers, overcoming an early four-run deficit to secure the franchise’s first World Series appearance since 1982.
Los Angeles jumped out to a 4-0 lead, with Shohei Ohtani hitting his first home run of the postseason. But the Brewers fought back, setting the stage for a dramatic finish.
Garrett Mitchell delivered the go-ahead home run in the sixth inning, giving Milwaukee the lead. David Hamilton added a solo homer in the ninth to provide insurance, while the Brewers’ bullpen shut down the Dodgers down the stretch.
The victory completes a remarkable turnaround for Milwaukee, which was swept by Los Angeles in last year’s NLCS. This time, the Brewers eliminated the Dodgers in four straight games to capture the National League pennant.
The Brewers last reached the World Series in 1982, when they were still members of the American League. That team lost to the St. Louis Cardinals in seven games.
Milwaukee now moves on to baseball’s biggest stage, with a chance to win the first World Series championship in franchise history.
The Brewers’ World Series opponent and opening-game details are still to be confirmed.
