Car Fire
Fond du Lac, WI – On October 31, 2013 at 07:59 a.m. the FDLFD responded to a car on fire next to an apartment complex at 181 S. Brooke Street. The resident of the apartment stated that he started his car inside the garage and was leaving the complex when he noticed that his car was not properly operating. He returned to the front of the garage area and noticed smoke coming from the engine compartment. The fire quickly spread to the interior compartment of the vehicle and melted siding on the first and second floor apartment building. Firefighters contained fire to origin, evacuated apartments and ventilated apartment building due to smoke entering structure. Residents were allowed to return to apartments after the buildings were cleared of carbon monoxide. The owner of the vehicle had work completed on the vehicle yesterday.
The FDLFD was assisted by the Fond du Lac Police department and the Fond du Lac Department of Public Works. The cause of the fire is under investigation. (photo from FDL Fire Dept)
