Chicago man arrested in Fond du Lac after pointing gun at woman
On Thursday, January 30, 2025, the City of Fond du Lac Police Department apprehended a 31-year-old Chicago resident after he pointed a firearm at a female victim.
Fond du Lac Police Department learned that the suspect was also wanted by the US Marshals on a federal parole warrant for the possession of a machine gun and dangerous drugs.
Chief Aaron Goldstein stated, “The rapid and coordinated response by our Fond du Lac Police Department Officers and partner agencies ensured that this dangerous incident was resolved without further harm to the victim or children involved. I am proud of the work of our Fond du Lac Police Department Officers and grateful for our law enforcement partners who are always quickly by our side.”
At approximately 11:47 p.m., officers responded to a 9-1-1 call from female who advised that a male pointed a gun at her face inside a residence in the 000 block of N. Butler Avenue. Officers also learned that the armed suspect was inside the residence with five children ranging from newborn to 13-years-old.
Officers responded and set up around the house to attempt to make contact inside and effect a rescue. The Fond du Lac Police Department SWAT and Crisis Negotiations teams and Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office SWAT and Crisis Negotiations teams were activated. Officers also deployed the Bear Cat (armored vehicle), a K-9 team, and the Technology Response Group which contains drone and robot resources.
In an effort to escape the suspect attempted to leave the area in an Uber. Officers took the suspect into custody without further incident and recovered a firearm. Officers entered the residence and confirmed that the female victim and her children were all physically unharmed.
The suspect was transported to the Fond du Lac County Jail and is being held on the federal parole warrant. Additional criminal charges stemming from this incident will be referred to the Fond du Lac County District Attorney’s Office. More information is anticipated to be released if and when a criminal complaint is filed by the District Attorney’s Office.
The City of Fond du Lac Police Department was assisted by the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office, Wisconsin State Patrol, North Fond du Lac Police Department, and the City of Fond du Lac Fire Rescue.
The investigation into this incident is at the preliminary stages and remains under active investigation. No further details or information are being released at this time.
