City of Fond du Lac house fire displaces five

Fond du Lac Fire/Rescue was able to quickly extinguish a fire in a house Monday, March 2, 2026, but not before it left the house uninhabitable.

At about 5:14 p.m., the department was dispatched to 311 W. Division Street for a report of a house on fire.

Upon arrival, fire crews observed smoke coming from the rear door of the residence. Firefighters entered the residence and found a fire that had started in the rear entry area. The fire was quickly brought under control and extinguished by first arriving fire units, and confined to the area of origin. There was moderate fire damage to the rear entryway area and smoke damage throughout the residence.

Two occupants’ home at the time of the fire located on the second floor were able to safely escape.

The Red Cross was contacted to assist a total of five occupants that were living in the house due to it being uninhabitable.

Fire investigators are working to determine the cause of the fire. The City of Fond du Lac Police Department also assisted with scene and traffic control as well as Fire Investigation.

Division Street was closed in the area while crews worked the scene.
