Community comes together to offer reward and search for missing dog

UPDATE – EMBER HAS BEEN FOUND

A dog owned by a family in the Ripon/Green Lake area escaped from a boarding facility it was being housed at earlier this week near Waupun.

Brenda Edmunds, owner of Doggone Groomers & Boarding of the Waupun area, said the male Miniature American Eskimo dog climbed a six-foot enclosure and squeezed through a hole to escape Tuesday, July 9, 2024. After her and another employee noticed the dog named Ember in their front yard, they tried to get him back, but the dog was frightened and ran off.

The two followed Ember up to a neighbors house on west Center Road where they saw him go into the cornfield, and that was the last they saw him.

Edmunds said she wanted to get the word out to the public to get as many eyes as possible looking for Ember so she took to social media, announcing on Facebook about the dog’s escape.

Wednesday night Edmunds mentioned something to the family about placing a reward for Ember’s return. They quickly put up a post on Facebook announcing the reward and she added to it. Moments after, Edmunds said she began receiving multiple offers to add to the donations towards the reward.

She says as of Friday morning, that total has grown to $1300, coming from multiple people.

“For every donation that came in, I was absolutely overwhelmed by the community support of this family and of me and the love they have for this one little dog” Edmunds said.

“We have been looking nonstop.” Edmunds says she has family that comes every day as well as friends and neighbors and many of their customers that come out every day to search. “It’s overwhelming the response that we have had in the search for Ember. I cannot thank everyone enough for the effort they made and I know they will continue to make until Ember is home.”

Edmunds says “It is hard to think of him out there in this big world, lost and hungry and scared. I’m asking everyone to scan the fields, check your sheds and out buildings, and continue to pray for Ember to be found!”

If you happen to see the little white dog, call 920-318-9614 and give the time, location and direction you saw the dog going.
