Douglas County Wildfire Biggest In The State Since 2005

State Department of Natural Resources officials say a wildfire in Douglas County has forced the evacuation of several communities while destroying at least 50 structures and burning about 6,800 acres. They say it’s the biggest wildfire to hit the state since 2005. As of 2:35 this morning fire crews estimated 80 to 85 percent of the fire was contained. However, today’s weather conditions may usher in similar fire danger conditions as yesterday. The cause of the wildfire in Northwestern Wisconsin is under investigation. No injuries have been reported.
