Downtown Fond du Lac Partnership has announced they will be partnering with SSM Health Treffert Center to debut the Savant Stroll in Downtown Fond du Lac this summer.
The event takes place on Thursday, July 9 from 4:00 to 5:30pm, and gives guests the opportunity to explore downtown and experience something truly extraordinary, savant syndrome.
Savant syndrome is a rare condition in which persons with various developmental and intellectual differences, including Autism Spectrum Disorder, demonstrate extraordinary, prodigious talents in a specific area such as music, art or rapid mathematical calculations.
During the stroll, visitors will have the opportunity to explore downtown businesses while meeting and interacting with talented savants from around the world, showcasing their incredible abilities
Each participating downtown business will host a savant, creating an interactive and inspiring experience throughout the heart of downtown. Guests are encouraged to stroll from location to location, discovering these unique talents, while supporting local businesses.
One of the savant guests scheduled to be on hand is Tony DeBlois who is blind and autistic, though graduated from Berklee College of Music in 1996. and can play 23 musical instruments and sings in 11 languages.
The event serves as a prequel to a Global Savant Gathering hosted by the Treffert Center at the Prairie Theater and Events Center on July 10th from 5:00 to 9:00pm. To buy tickets and learn more visit the website amazingsavants.com.
