Dozens arrested in Fond du Lac County during multi-jurisdiction drug interdiction task force

On Tuesday, August 19, 2025, the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office coordinated a multi-jurisdiction drug interdiction task force that included officers from the City of Fond du Lac and Waupun police
departments and troopers from the Wisconsin State Patrol. Also participating in the task force were investigators assigned to the Lake Winnebago Area Metropolitan Enforcement Group (LWAM) as well as multiple K9 teams.

The primary objective of the interdiction was to saturate high drug trafficking neighborhoods and corridors throughout the county and identify and arrest those involved in illegal drug trafficking, possession, or other crimes.

Individuals arrested included suspects from Fond du Lac, Menasha, Milwaukee, Wisconsin Rapids, Kimberly, Waupun, Juneau, Two Rivers, Winneconne, and Oshkosh. Many of these offenders were
already out on bail for pending criminal charges and several were on active probation serving a sentence for prior criminal convictions.

During one of the traffic stops, the driver who was out on bond for numerous drug and other criminal offenses, attempted to flee on foot from his vehicle during a traffic stop on the offramp from I41
northbound to W. Johnson St. Two deputies each deployed their taser, quickly subduing the suspect.

The suspect had a significant quantity of drugs on them and had attempted to discard them as he fled. He had been arrested just days earlier by a sheriff’s deputy for a drug related offense and released
on bail.

Another traffic stop involved MEG investigators witnessing a female approach a pickup truck stopped at an intersection. After a brief conversation at the passenger widow, she got into the truck and rode
away. The truck was stopped by a marked patrol unit for a registration violation and officers learned the two occupants did not know each other. Resource options were provided to the female, who said she was homeless. Officers also suspect she may have been involved in prostitution related crime based on the interaction between the two individuals witnessed by the MEG agents, the fact that the two did not know each other, and because their stories were not consistent.

The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office appreciates the collaborative efforts of our local law enforcement agencies and the Lake Winnebago Area Metropolitan Enforcement Group. We would like
to recognize the work of the dispatchers in the Fond du Lac County Communications Center. Thousands of radio transmissions occurred between dozens of officers, deputies, troopers, and dispatchers working during this intensive drug interdiction, and the task force could not have operated safely and effectively without the professionals we had working on the other end of our radio.

Additionally, we’d like to recognize the Fond du Lac County jail staff who processed and booked 27 inmates into jail during this operation. Their work is an essential component of the criminal justice system and holding offenders accountable.

This media release was delayed to allow time for follow up drug and other criminal investigations to take place that were developed or initiated during this task force initiative.
