Driver who eluded officers in three counties stopped in Fond du Lac County

A Kaukauna man was taken into custody in Fond du Lac County this morning after eluding law enforcement in three different counties overnight.

At 2:39, an Outagamie Sheriff’s Department Deputy observed a red pick-up truck going 70 mph in a 25 mph zone in Kaukauna. The officer attempted to make a traffic stop, but the driver took off at a high rate of speed.

The pursuit proceeded southbound on 41 from Delanglade Street at speeds of 115 mph.

Because the driver was headed in the direction of their residence, it was decided to terminate the pursuit and wait at the address the plates listed to, however Grand Chute Police were unable to assist so the decision was made to just terminate the pursuit altogether.

A couple minutes later the driver was seen on the road he lived on, but again officers were told to not pursue, as they were going to wait until he got to his residence to deal with him.

Rather than go to his residence however, the driver proceeded back to I-41 and headed southbound. At this time Winnebago County was notified of the situation.

Shortly after 3 a.m. a Winnebago County Sheriff’s Deputy spotted the vehicle south on 41 at 45, driving all over the road, but maintaining the speed limit. While waiting for other officers to catch up, the deputy followed the vehicle down to highway 26 where he attempted a traffic stop. Again the driver refused to stop so with a no chase policy, the deputy stopped following the vehicle at County Highway Z and Fond du Lac County was made aware of the situation.

A Fond du Lac deputy got behind the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop, but the driver again refused to stop. A deputy farther up the highway had a tire deflation device set up which was successful.

With flat tires, the vehicle ended up stopping near Highway N but the driver still refused to cooperate with officers. 41 north and southbound were shut down at this time until the man was taken into custody a short time later.

After facing charges in Fond du Lac County, the man was then transferred back to Outagamie County to face the initial charges there.
