Drugs, gun found during Fond du Lac County traffic stop
A Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office traffic stop on Interstate 41 has led to the arrest of two New London men on drug charges.
A deputy stopped the vehicle earlier this month for equipment and registration plate violations.
During the stop, deputies developed reasonable suspicion that the occupants were involved in criminal activity. Sheriff’s K-9 BOOM was deployed and indicated the presence of drugs in the area of the trunk.
A subsequent search turned up about 86 grams of cocaine packaged in three bags, along with a scale, several hundred dollars in cash and drug paraphernalia.
A handgun and additional drug paraphernalia were also found in the glove compartment.
Both men were arrested on charges including possession with intent to deliver cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia. The charges are enhanced because authorities say the offenses were committed while armed.
The driver, a 34-year-old New London man, remains in custody on a $15,000 cash bond. The 32-year-old passenger received a $2,500 cash bond and is no longer in custody.
