Drunk driving charge result after woman crashes into motorcyclist

A 36-year-old Malone woman has been arrested on suspicion of drunk driving Tuesday night, September 17, 2024, after causing a crash that seriously injured a 35-year-old Ripon man who was driving a motorcycle.

The crash occurred just after 9 PM on State Highway 23, a little over a mile west of Rosendale.

Investigation of the crash showed both the motorcyclist and the woman were traveling westbound on State Highway 23 when the motorcyclist was struck from behind by the vehicle, causing him to crash and be thrown off the motorcycle. The man sustained serious injuries and was flown from the scene by ThedaStar Medical Helicopter to ThedaCare Regional Medical Center in Neenah. He was not wearing a helmet.

The woman sustained minor injuries and was transported by ambulance to SSM Health Ripon Community Hospital. Highway 23 was closed for approximately two hours between County Highway M and the village of Rosendale while crews worked the scene of the crash.
