Dry weather officially causing drought conditions in Fond du Lac County area
While the lack of rain has made for numerous days of pleasant weather to do fun things, it’s beginning to take it’s toll on the area, especially for area farmers.
The US Drought Monitor Map now has most of east Central Wisconsin listed as abnormally dry, which is the first level in their five level map showing where drought is taking place.
A portion of northeast Fond du Lac County, southeast Calumet County, southern Manitowoc County and northern Sheboygan County has progressed into the second level which is listed as a moderate drought.
Forecast models have little to no relief from the drought with the next week only have sporadic chances of rain resulting in an estimated 1/10th to 1/2 of an inch of rain.
