Dry weather taking it’s toll on state’s fire danger level
The Wisconsin DNR is urging residents to use caution outdoors as fire danger levels continue to rise across much of the state, including Fond du Lac County.
According to the DNR’s WisBURN fire danger map, the entire state of Wisconsin is currently listed in the “Moderate” fire danger category with the exception of Oconto, Marinette and Florence Counties which are listed in the high risk catagory.
This comes after an extended stretch of dry weather which is ongoing. Under this risk, The DNR says wildfires can ignite and spread, especially in dry grasses, leaves and brush.
Fire danger ratings are based on weather conditions, fuel moisture and vegetation across the state. Under moderate conditions, fires are generally easier to contain, but residents are encouraged to use caution with any outdoor burning activities.
Mostly dry weather looks to continue for the area through Thursday.
