Dryer Fire Damages Fond du Lac Home

The Fond du Lac Fire/Rescue Department responded to a report of a fire behind a clothes dryer early Saturday, December 17, 2022 at the Fond du Lac Mobile Home Park at 550 Van Dyne Road.

According to the fire department, the homeowner was able to discharge a fire extinguisher prior to fire department’s arrival, knocking the fire down.

The first arriving units extinguished hotspots and made sure fire had not extended to the adjacent cabinetry.

Seven occupants of the home were able to escape without injury.

Fond du Lac Fire/Rescue says residents should ensure that their clothes dryers are in proper working order, properly vented, and free of laundry and lint build-up on and around the units.

The department also mentioned It is extremely important to be home and awake when operating clothes dryers and to check your smoke alarms and obtain or replace them to ensure their proper operation.
