Electrical fire causes minor damage to rural Fond du Lac house

On Monday, October 20, 2025 at approximately 6:03 p.m., the Fond du Lac County Communications Center received a 911 call from a female resident at N4861 CTH V, located in the Township of Fond du Lac.

The resident advised that her roof was on fire with smoke emitting from it. Additionally, there were two children and a dog inside the residence at the time. All residents and animals were able to exit safely prior to the arrival of emergency personnel.

When sheriff’s deputies and fire personnel arrived on-scene they observed smoke emitting from the roof of the residence. Fire personnel entered the residence and were able to locate the active fire in the attic space created from burning insulation. The fire was quickly extinguished. There was minimal fire and smoke damage to the attic space and room.

The official cause of the fire appears to be from an aging electrical system. The female resident stated that a light went out suddenly in a room followed by a burning electrical smell. The residence was occupied by two adults, two children, and dog. There are no reported injuries as a result of the fire. The investigation is still ongoing.

The Town of Fond du Lac Fire Department was assisted by the City of Fond du Lac Fire Department, Eden Fire Department, Van Dyne Fire Department, Campbellsport Fire Department, Lomira Fire Department, and Alliant Energy.
