Eleven new murals to be painted on downtown Fond du Lac buildings this month

The Downtown Fond du Lac Partnership has announced the launch of the “Art Lot” mural project, which features eleven new murals on private building exteriors in downtown Fond du Lac.
The Art Lot is a public art initiative to transform a shared parking area, located at 13 Fourth Street, into a colorful, inviting space that adds vitality to the district and enhances the downtown experience for both residents and visitors.
The murals are being painted on a variety of surfaces—including brick, vinyl siding, cinder block, wood, and fencing—each averaging approximately 20 feet wide by 10 feet high. Two murals are located on second-story surfaces accessible via flat rooftops, and three murals will require a lift due to their height.
Once completed, the murals will be professionally seal coated to preserve the artwork.
In anticipation of the project, artists were encouraged to explore themes such as Fond du Lac’s history, community, and natural features, with an emphasis on interactive murals that create engaging photo opportunities.
Mural painting began on Tuesday and will continue throughout the month of May. The public is invited to watch the artists at work during a special viewing on Saturday, May 17, from 10:00 a.m. to noon, in conjunction with the Downtown Fond du Lac Farmers Market.
