Felony eluding charges given to man who got a half block trying to evade Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Deputy

A 29-year-old Taylor County man was taken into custody after what was likely the shortest high speed pursuit in Fond du Lac County history.

On Sunday, September 27, 2026, shortly after 4 p.m., a deputy with the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation on Military Rd. near west 9th Street in the City of Fond du Lac.

Upon activation of the officer’s lights and siren, the driver accelerated and turned west on 9th Street which dead ends after only a half block.

Once stopped, the driver was initially reported as uncooperative and got out of their vehicle, but he was quickly detained.

The driver was booked into the Fond du Lac County Jail on charges of felony flee / elude and misdemeanor bail jumping. He was issued citations for operating without a valid license, failure to stop at stop sign, possession of open intoxicants, and operating while intoxicated – 1st offense.

The man, who according to court records used to reside in Fond du Lac, was out on a $500 cash bond through Taylor County for disorderly conduct and endangering safety – use of a dangerous weapon, both with domestic abuse enhancers.
