Fighter jet training planned for evening hours this week
Residents in southern Wisconsin may hear fighter jets flying into the nighttime hours this week.
The Wisconsin Air National Guard’s 115th Fighter Wing will conduct evening training flights Monday through Thursday.
The training runs from today through the 24th, with flights expected to continue until approximately 10 p.m.
The 115th normally conducts most of its training during the day, but pilots and maintenance personnel need nighttime operations as part of their overall readiness.
The F-35s may be visible or audible in the evening hours.
Officials say pre determined flight paths will be used to minimize noise impacts on area residents.
While sonic booms will try to be avoided, there is the possibility one or two could occur.
Area police dispatch centers say if you hear a loud boom, to not call 911, unless you actually see something blowing up as dispatch centers usually get inundated with calls reporting the loud booms.
