Fire damages Fond du Lac Home

On the morning of February 2026, at 8:23 a.m., Fond du Lac Fire Rescue was dispatched to 155 Forest Ave for a report of a structure on fire. Upon arrival, fire crews observed smoke coming from the front door of the residence.  Fire Companies quickly entered the residence and found a fire that had started in the kitchen area.  The fire had melted a water line which aided in keeping the fire confined to the area of origin.  There was moderate fire damage to the kitchen area and smoke damage throughout the residence.  No one was home at the time of the fire.  One cat was located and returned to the owners.

Fire crews performed overhaul operations and extinguished hidden hot spots in the walls of the kitchen area.  The fire was quickly brought under control within 10 minutes, and no other structures were affected.  There were no civilian or fire department injuries reported.  The Red Cross was contacted to assist the occupants as the house is currently deemed uninhabitable.

Smoke detectors were present and working.  Fond du Lac Fire Rescue would like to remind all residents to regularly change batteries and test smoke detectors in their homes. Smoke detectors should be placed on all floors and in all bedrooms.

Fire investigators will be working to determine the cause and origin of the fire. FDL Police Department assisted with scene and traffic control.
