Fire destroys barn with chickens in Sheboygan County

A poultry barn in the Town of Greenbush is considered a total loss after a fire on Thursday, April 4, 2024.

Just after 5 PM, the Greenbush Fire Department was dispatched to a report of a barn fire on Chickadee Drive which was reported to have 30 chickens in it and was near two other barns.

On scene, authorities found the barn fully engulfed. Crews extinguished the fire and no other buildings were damaged. The barn is being described as a total loss by authorities.

The cause of the fire is believed to be a faulty heat lamp.

The Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Department, Fire Departments from Plymouth, Cascade, Elkhart Lake, Glenbeulah, St. Cloud, Mt. Calvary, St. Anna, Glenbeulah first responders, and Orange Cross Ambulance all assisted the Greenbush Fire Department during the fire.
