First-Degree Intentional Homicide Charges Expected In Beating Death Of Taycheedah Correctional Inmate

The City of Fond du Lac Police Department has concluded their investigation in the death of an inmate at Taycheedah Correctional Institution. As a result, Taylor Sanchez has been referred to the Fond du Lac County District Attorney’s Office for one count of First-Degree Intentional Homicide in the beating death of 68-year-old
Cindy Schulz-Juedes.

On Wednesday, July 19, correctional officers found Juedes unresponsive in her cell. The Fond du Lac Police Department and Fire/Rescue Department were called to the
scene, but efforts to revive her were unsuccessful.

Juedes was convicted for the 2006 death of her husband in Marathon County. She was serving a life sentence when she died, but maintained her innocence and was in the process of appealing her conviction.

According to Wisconsin court records, 27-year-old Sanchez, who originally showed an Illinois address, has multiple convictions of battery to prisoners on her record.

More information is anticipated to be released when a criminal complaint is filed by the District Attorney’s Office.

Taycheedah Correctional Institution is an all female prison opened in 1921. It has a maximum capacity of 752 inmates, but like most prisons, it is running over capacity. According to Wikipedia, the facility was averaging around 936 inmates as of 2019.
