Five measles cases reported in Green Lake County

Confirmed measles cases are getting closer to the Fond du Lac area.

Green Lake County health officials have confirmed at least five cases of measles, marking the first confirmed cases in Northeast Wisconsin.

The cases are linked to a laboratory-confirmed infection in another county. Health officials say all confirmed and suspected cases identified so far involve people who were not vaccinated against measles.

Known exposures have been limited to private gatherings, and officials say there are no identified public exposure locations at this time.

The Wisconsin Department of Health Services reported 431 confirmed measles cases statewide as of November third. That’s up from 335 just two weeks earlier.

Wisconsin health officials are reporting the death of an infant connected to the ongoing measles outbreak in southwestern Wisconsin.

The Department of Health Services says it’s the first measles-related death reported in Wisconsin since 1990.
