Flash Freeze felt but icy roads were lacking
It was a better safe than sorry night for area schools as just about all of them cancelled all after school events last night, including sports, due to a forecasted flash freeze that was going to come after an area of rain, so it was thought area roads would be problematic with black ice.
While the temperatures did plummet, it was a significant time AFTER the rain, so area roads and highways had time to dry before temperatures dropped below freezing. Initially there was a threat for snow squalls as well, but a delay in the cold front’s passage helped to eliminate that threat as well.
Cold weather will hold in place today before the next chance of snow moves in Saturday.
