Fond du Lac Fire Department reminds residences of fire ordinance after vegetation fire in city

The Fond du Lac Fire and Rescue Department wants to remind city residents of the city’s burn ordinance after a homeowner’s careless burning Monday, May 12, 2025, caused a small vegetation fire along railroad tracks near Western Avenue.

Just before noon Monday, the department was called to the area along the tracks at Western Avenue for a report of the fire.

Upon arrival department members found vegetation burning that started in an area of a nearby yard where the home owner had been burning.

The fire department says only clean wood can be burnt in an approved container under supervision with a water supply readily available. No brush in the city can be burnt.

Fond du Lac Fire and Rescue says they appreciate the community’s cooperation in helping prevent wildfires and ensuring public safety.
