Fond du Lac Fire/Rescue Responds To Industrial Fire

The Fond du Lac Fire/Rescue Department responded to a south Hickory Street business yesterday for a report that there was a fire in the building.

At 4:18 PM the fire department was called to Champion Insulation at 1249 South Hickory Street for a reported fire in a product packaging system.

Upon arrival fire crews saw smoke coming from the insulation silo on the inside of the building.

According to the fire department, The silo system uses augers to place insulation into packages for distribution.

At some point the insulation over heated and started to smolder.

Fire crews removed much of the smoldering insulation from the system and extinguished the remaining material with water.

The fire was contained to the packaging system and didn’t involve the structure.

There were no reported injuries and all employees evacuated safely.
