Fond du Lac man taken into custody after SWAT deployed domestic incident

On Friday, July 10, 2026, the City of Fond du Lac Police Department safely took a 43-year-old Fond du Lac man into custody following a domestic violence investigation that began overnight at a local business and ultimately resulted in the activation of specialized police resources.

At approximately 1:39 a.m., City of Fond du Lac Police Officers responded to The Press Box Tavern, 251 Forest Avenue, for a report of a domestic violence incident. Before Officers arrived, the suspect had fled the scene.

While FDLPD Officers investigated the incident and searched for the suspect, they interviewed the 37-year-old Fond du Lac woman who had been assaulted. During that interview, Officers learned the incident at the tavern was not isolated, as the victim disclosed additional recent acts of domestic violence that had not previously been reported to police.  Based on the totality of the information obtained, Officers determined the suspect had allegedly committed multiple violent acts against the victim and presented an elevated risk.

Officers learned the suspect had returned to the couple’s residence in the 100 block of Hamilton Place. Officers responded to the residence, established a perimeter, and attempted to contact the suspect in an effort to achieve a peaceful surrender.

The suspect refused repeated commands to exit the residence or communicate with Officers. Based on the violent nature of the investigation, the suspect’s refusal to cooperate, and information indicating firearms could be present inside the residence, Officers deployed an armored rescue vehicle to enhance the safety of responding Officers and nearby residents while negotiations attempts continued.

Despite continued efforts to resolve the situation peacefully, the suspect remained uncooperative. As a result, the Fond du Lac Police Department activated its SWAT Team and Crisis Negotiations Team. Additional assistance was requested from the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team and Crisis Negotiation Team. Both agencies also deployed K-9 teams and Technology Response Groups equipped with drone and robotic resources to provide real-time intelligence and safely manage the incident while minimizing risk to the public and first responders.

As a precaution, a shelter-in-place order was issued for residents in the immediate area while Officers secured the scene and safely evacuated neighbors.

As specialized resources were arriving and negotiations attempts continued, the suspect voluntarily surrendered and was taken into custody without further incident at 11:00 a.m.

The City of Fond du Lac Police Department was assisted by the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office and the City of Fond du Lac Fire Rescue.

This investigation remains active. No additional information is being released at this time.
