Fond du Lac Opens FVA Play With Impressive Shutout

FOND DU LAC – Fond du Lac wasted little time taking control Friday night, scoring on a blocked punt following Oshkosh West’s opening possession and cruising to a 39-0 victory in the Fox Valley Association Conference opener.

The Cardinals’ special teams set the tone early. After forcing a three-and-out on Oshkosh West’s first possession, Fond du Lac capitalized on a blocked punt to grab the game’s first points and an early advantage.

The Fond du Lac defense continued to dominate, forcing another quick stop on the Wildcats’ next possession. The Cardinals then found the end zone on offense when Brady Schmidt broke free for a 38-yard touchdown run, extending the lead to 14-0.

Fond du Lac continued to control the game behind a strong rushing attack. Eli Michalewicz added a pair of rushing touchdowns, scoring on runs of 7 yards and 9 yards, as the Cardinals steadily built their lead throughout the night.

The Cardinals also found success through the air, with a touchdown pass connecting with Henry Vokes to add to the offensive outburst.

Backed by a defense that kept Oshkosh West off the scoreboard all game, Fond du Lac completed the shutout and opened conference play with an impressive 39-0 victory.

Fond du Lac will look to carry that momentum into next week when the Cardinals host Appleton North on Thursday night at Cardinal Stadium.
