Fond du Lac Police respond to two Fond du Lac schools to investigate potential threats

The Fond du Lac School District needed the assistance of the Fond du Lac Police Department twice at two different schools Thursday, October 30, 2025.

STEM Academy

At 11 a.m., Stem Academy at 401 south Military Road were made aware of an undisclosed threat to the school.

School administration as well as law enforcement placed the school on a hold and began investigating which involved a search of the school.

At 1:37 p.m. it was determined there was no credible threat and the hold was lifted.

Fond du Lac High School

At approximately 12:46 p.m., a Fond du Lac High School student reported seeing a male near the school pond with what appeared to be a firearm in his waistband.

School Resource Officers and Patrol Officers from the Fond du Lac Police Department immediately responded to the area. Officers located a male matching the description, who fled on foot when contacted. Following a brief foot pursuit, Officers safely apprehended the individual.

A search of the area, assisted by Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Handler Deputy Birkholz and his K9 partner Rip, resulted in Officers locating a 9mm handgun and a loaded 9mm magazine nearby.

The Fond du Lac resident was taken into custody without incident. The firearm has been recovered, and investigators have found no evidence of additional suspects or any ongoing risk to the community.

The Fond du Lac Police Department commends the quick actions of the reporting student, school staff, and responding Officers. Their alertness and cooperation helped ensure the continued safety of our school community.
