Fond du Lac Powers to a Victory Over Marquette Plus Friday Scores

The Fond du Lac Cardinals made a bold statement in Week 2 of the high school football season, securing a commanding 17-3 victory over Milwaukee Marquette, a team ranked in the top 10 statewide.

The game began as a defensive battle, with both teams trading field goals in the first half to head into the locker room tied 3-3. But the second half was all Cardinals.

Fond du Lac’s offensive line took control of the trenches, paving the way for senior running back Mason Henschel to wear down the Marquette defense with a relentless ground attack. Henschel’s powerful running set the tone, while the Cardinals’ defense turned up the pressure, forcing four interceptions to stifle any hopes of a Marquette comeback.

With the win, Fond du Lac improves to 2-0 and gains serious momentum heading into conference play.

Next up: the Cardinals open Fox Valley Association action on Thursday night under the lights at Cardinal Stadium, where they’ll face Appleton North in what promises to be another hard-fought matchup.
