Fond du Lac Public School Superintendent Jeffrey Fleig facing backlash for comments made to educators

Fond du Lac Public School Superintendent Jeffrey Fleig is facing backlash after some comments he expressed to one of the middle school’s staff in Fond du Lac recently.
At an October 15, 2024 staff meeting, Fleig told Woodworth teachers they were an embarrassment to the district due to results of recent testing scores where the school fell short on where it should be.
Several teachers resigned after the meeting because of how they were treated.
On the other side of the coin however, Fleig has community support, and while some public members at a recent school board meeting want him put on administrative leave while this incident is looked into, others say he is doing what needs to be done. Adding no one likes to be told they’re failing at what they are out to do, but it’s necessary to administer tough love if we want things to improve.
Others at the school board meeting say they just want what’s best for the students.
Fleig and school board members have yet to comment publicly on the matter.
