Fond du Lac traffic stop leads to search warrant which leads to multiple felony charges

A traffic stop by City of Fond du Lac Police Officers last week, led to the arrest of a Fond du Lac man and the filing of multiple felony drug charges.

On Thursday, December 11, 2025, Fond du Lac Police Officers stopped 39-year-old Dewayne Atterberry after observing him driving, knowing he had an active arrest warrant.

While being booked into the Fond du Lac County Jail, officers located suspected cocaine hidden on Atterberry’s person. Based on information developed during the stop and arrest, Fond du Lac Police Officers, along with members of the Fond du Lac Police Department Community Impact Unit, executed a search warrant at Atterberry’s residence in the area of Thomas Street and North Hickory Street.

That search resulted in the recovery of suspected marijuana, methamphetamine, Ecstasy, drug paraphernalia, and packaging materials consistent with the sale and distribution of illegal drugs.

Atterberry was formally charged in Fond du Lac County Circuit Court with multiple felony offenses, including Possession with Intent to Deliver Cocaine, Possession with Intent to Deliver Designer Drugs, Maintaining a Drug Trafficking Place, Felony Bail Jumping, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Several charges include enhanced penalties for repeat offenses, distribution near a park, and repeater status.

Atterberry is being held on a $20,000 cash bond and is scheduled for a preliminary hearing February 13, 2026.
