Fond du Lac woman fakes armed robbery report, now facing charges

On Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at about 9:24 a.m., Fond du Lac Police Officers responded to a reported armed robbery near N. Macy Street and W. Rees Street.

A 34-year-old woman claimed she was walking from a local business to a bank with business funds when an unknown man allegedly confronted her at knifepoint near a bus stop and fled with the money.

FDLPD Officers immediately locked down the area—setting up a perimeter, deploying a drone, using a UTV to search tall grass along the river, reviewing surveillance footage, and partnering with the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office for a K9 track.

The investigation quickly uncovered the truth: surveillance video showed no one else in the area at the time of the alleged robbery. Confronted with the evidence, the woman admitted she had fabricated the entire story.

She was arrested on a probation hold, transported to the Fond du Lac County Jail, and now faces charges of Resisting/Obstructing an Officer.

The Fond du Lac Police Department says false reports waste valuable public safety resources, divert officers from real emergencies, and put the community at risk.
