Fond du Lac’s Donte Johnson continues dominince in UFC career

Fond du Lac’s Donte Johnson remained undefeated Saturday night, scoring a first-round knockout of Eric McConico at his latest UFC fight in Philadelphia.

The middleweight fight lasted just one minute and 38 seconds before Johnson finished McConico by knockout.

The victory improves Johnson’s professional record to 9 and 0, with seven of his nine wins coming by knockout or technical knockout.

Johnson entered the fight coming off a split-decision victory over Cody Brundage in March. That fight went the full three rounds — the first time in Johnson’s professional career this had happened.

Johnson is a 2017 graduate of Fond du Lac High School, where he was a standout athlete in both football and wrestling. During his senior wrestling season, he went 39-and-3 and was named Fox Valley Association Wrestler of the Year. He also finished his high school career as the winningest heavyweight in Fond du Lac wrestling history, with 136 career victories.

With a perfect 9-and-0 professional record and seven knockout victories, the Fond du Lac native is quickly establishing himself as one of the UFC’s rising middleweight prospects.
