Former Calumet County social hub damaged by fire… again
An early afternoon three alarm fire caused significant damage to a former well known Calumet County business Tuesday, May 26, 2026.
Between 2 and 3 pm the Stockbridge Fire Department was called to the now closed Kloten Oasis banquet hall at the intersection of County Highway F and C.
Upon arrival, crews found smoke and fire and the call quickly upgraded to a MABAS fire call, bringing in mutual aid from surrounding departments.
Due to the size of the building, the amount of fire, and the heat firefighters had to battle the fire in, the call eventually grew to a 3rd alarm, bringing fire crews from as far away as Eden in Fond du Lac County.
The Kloten Oasis (also known as Hansen’s or Schneider’s Kloten Oasis) was a long-standing bar, grill, and banquet hall located just west of Chilton. For generations, the popular local spot hosted weddings, live polka bands, and traditional Friday fish fries. The establishment had a rich history in Calumet County and surrounding areas, serving as a social and community hub. However, according to the Calumet County Historical Society, the venue was largely destroyed by a structure fire in April 2022.
No information has been released as to what may have caused this fire.
