Former Waupun School employee charged with Theft in a Business Setting
A former member of the Waupun Jr/SR high school has been charged with stealing over $18,000 from the Waupun Athletic Booster Club.
On December 11, 2025, the Waupun Police Department received a complaint concerning financial discrepancies within the booster club finances.
The discrepancies were first noticed by the club’s treasurer, and they immediately contacted the Waupun Police Department to initiate an investigation.
The investigation revealed that the financial discrepancies were a direct result of stolen Scrip gift cards. These are otherwise described as gift cards for local businesses that are purchased by the club, then sold for a small profit to benefit Waupun Area School District athletic programs.
Numerous cards were stolen over the course of approximately 2-3 months, which resulted in a total loss for the Booster Club of $18,650.00.
A review of invoices, transaction summaries, inventory adjustments, video surveillance footage, and several interviews led to evidence that the Booster Club’s Scrip Sales Manager had been taking the gift cards, and using them for personal gain.
As a result of the investigation, charges were filed by the Dodge County District Attorney Office against a 49-year-old Lomira woman who was in charge of the Scrip program and used her position at the Waupun Jr/Sr High School to take, conceal, and use gift cards belonging to the booster club for personal expenses.
The woman has since confessed to stealing gift cards during a subsequent investigative interview. No other information has been released at this time.
